| Protecting Medicaid Benefits for Nebraska's Poor |

Nebraska Appleseed, through a successful class action lawsuit, hopes to help restore Medicaid benefits to more than 400 lowincome parents unlawfully dropped from the program by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Lancaster County District Judge Karen Flowers ruled that the department had exceeded its authority in stripping poor families of vital Medicaid coverage by approving a policy that allows HHS to impose a harsher sanction than specified by state law.
