The Lincoln-Lancaster County Women's Commission is hosting an awards luncheon in recognition of the 30th anniversary of International Women's Day.

Weaving Women's Voices' is scheduled for 11 a.m. March 10 at the Cornhusker Hotel, 333 S. 13th St.

Award recipients are being honored for their professional and/or personal efforts in promoting opportunities for women, improving the quality of life, and making an impact on women's issues in the community.

Special guest Shinae Chun, Director of the U.S. Department of Labor Women's Bureau, will be presented with an Admiralship in the Nebraska Navy. Chun heads the only federal agency charged with advocating on behalf of women in the workforce.

Other honorees include: Sen. DiAnna Schimek, District 27 representative at the Nebraska Legislature (Alice Paul Award); Milo Mumgaard, executive director for the Nebraska Appleseed Center for Law in the Public Interest (Erasmus Correll Award); internationally recognized watercolor artist Karen Dienstbier (Woman Artist Visual Arts); and Union College student and writer Kate Simmons (Sojourner Truth Award).
